Hi! My name is Patrick Carmack. I am from the Northern Virginia area but now live in Davidsonville, Maryland. Prior to Ashlawn, I was a classroom teacher in both Fairfax and Arlington. I have taught grades 1 – 5 and worked as a math interventionist and math coach all over the past 20 years. I graduated from Widener University earning my degree in Elementary Education. More recently, I graduated from George Mason University earning my K-8 Math Specialist endorsement and I’ve really enjoyed working as the Math Coach here at Ashlawn! I have always been involved in the math world and love seeing students being excited about learning math! When I’m not at school, I love having family time. My wife and I have 3 awesome children at home – Tripp 9, Lettie 7, and Carson 4. We love our DC sports teams and are always up for a new adventure. I’m looking forward to another amazing school year! Just remember… Everyone can be a math person in just two easy steps. Step 1: Do Math, Step 2: Be a person!
All Arlington students will construct a comprehensive and rigorous understanding of mathematics that they communicate and connect to the world around them. All students will be empowered and equipped to problem-solve and use the tools of mathematics to build and innovate their future world.
