I’ve been a Special Education Assistant for 4 years, working with students from Pre-K to 5th grade. As a social outgoing person, I bring energy and positivity into the classroom, making sure every student feels valued, safe, but most important loved, and that they enjoy coming to school each day.

I have been with Arlington Public Schools for 25 years. I have been teaching Functional Life Skills for most of that time. I like to ride my motorcycle, fight fires, and wear my Vibram 5 Finger Shoes around. My favorite color is pink and I highly dislike chocolate and coffee. When I am not here at school, you can find me off roading with my family or relaxing on the beach!

Hi! My name is Madeline Long and I am one of the Functional Life Skills Teachers at Ashlawn. This is my 5th year teaching FLS and 7th year teaching at Ashlawn. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Louisiana State University and my Master’s degree in Special Education from George Mason University. I am also the Staff Advisor for Ashlawn’s Best Buddies program, where we teach our Ashlawn community communication and inclusion strategies to build friendships between people of all abilities. My favorite thing about Ashlawn is our outstanding community and school spirit!
