First Grade Read-A-Thon

The Ashlawn Elementary School First Grade Storytime Read-a-Thon is a special tradition for first graders and their parents to help foster a love of reading.  First-grade students will spend the evening enjoying a reading journey through four different classrooms featuring stories read by talented volunteers.  Students are welcome to wear pajamas and bring a stuffed animal and they will each leave the event with a bag of donated books to take home and enjoy.

Parents will gather in the library and have an opportunity to hear from Ashlawn’s reading specialists and the librarian about resources and techniques to support our young readers. The event is free and open to all first grade students and parents.  Registration is encouraged for planning purposes, but not required. We are also asking for volunteers (parents of all grades welcome) to help make the night a success.

The Ashlawn PTA is collecting books – new or gently used – for the First Grade Read-a-Thon. Please consider donating to our first grade students any chapter, picture, and beginning-reader books your family may be ready to part with.  Books can be placed in the collection box in the front lobby of the school through Feb 16th
